I've put this jacket to the test

By Rick

Pros: - Decent airflow - Good protection - Durable

Cons: - Buttons on sleeve cuffs popped off due to my long gloves and pulling them on/off. I was riding more than average for most of this jacket's life so I wasn't disappointed, plus I could have been more thoughtful about yanking my gloves off.

Sizing Info: Fits true to size

I recently lowsided at about 50mph while wearing this jacket. The left arm and elbow (along with my head, my X11 is now on the shelf) took the brunt of the impact. The elbow armor did a good job of coping with the forces, I have no pain from the fall in my torso or arms. The subsequent slide did damage the mesh in the area below the elbow to the point that the jacket will be retired. It certainly did not "burn through" or endanger my skin, but I don't think I would want to try it a 2nd time with this jacket. The solid textile over the elbow has scuff marks but is pretty much unscathed. I will probably throw this jacket in the closet and buy another for commuting. I wouldn't necessarily count on the mesh to handle a high speed slide but for lower speeds it has proven to me it gets the job done. I would have rated it a 5 if the buttons on the cuffs hadn't popped off. Since I almost always wore gauntlet type gloves it didn't matter to me though. If you remember to loosen your gloves before you pull them off it will probably never be an issue.

 Great Jacket for all seasons!

By Tony from Hickory, NC

Pros: Great overall jacket for both warm and cold weather. Why buy 2 jackets for different seasons while you can save half the money and go with this one. When you remove the liner the "air-flows" great and with the liner in you can ride all winter. Everyone knows the quality alpinestars puts out and this is no different.

Cons: Fits a little snug in the sholders for a big guy like me. If you are over 210lbs I would suggest the 3xl.

Sizing Info: Fits 1 size smaller

By C.M. from SoCal

Pros: Awesome fit & finish. Very affordable and claims to be 'water resistant' I have yet to try it. The liner is very functional, it keeps you very warm in cold weather condition but without the liner the jacket brings airflow nicely. The shoulder/arm armors are very solid. Definitely recommended to those looking for most bang for their $.

Cons: Boring style, it's just all black without reflective strips so it can be dangerous in low visibility situation.

Pros: Great jacket! It breathes great with the liner taken out and keeps you warm with it in. The jacket has a nice weight and good quality feel to it.

Cons: The inside pocket kind- of has no support to it, when things are in it and the jacket is unzipped the pocket just hangs out of the jacket.

Sizing Info: Fits 1 size smaller

Comments: Best bang for the Buck!!!
