Aimed at the Supermoto/Naked bike user, the S1 glove offers urban riders the best of both worlds; extended cuffs offer addition protection around the wrist, whilst maintaining the flexibility and freedom of movement provided by a MX glove.

Features

  • The glove features Polyurethane knuckle protection which is complemented by three Polyurethane ridges position on the first three fingers, providing the ultimate in abrasion resistance.
  • External foam padding is provided around the wrist, thumb and over the fingers for additional impact absorption.
  • An accordion stretch panel on the thumb allows for an excellent range of motion whilst providing an extra layer of padding over the thumb joint.
  • Pre-curved fingers assist with grip while reducing muscle fatigue.
  • Featuring a MX style wrist closure system for ease of use, minimum detailing and the ultimate in urban styling.
  • External seam stitching has been used to improved feel and comfort.

 Great glove!!

By Brandon from Wahiawa, HI

Pros: The glove feels great on.. The S1 is very flexible where it need to be, the accordion panels also contributes to the comfort. I like that fact that it has impact absorbing foam that covers the outer wrist bone.

Cons: None that i have run across yet.

Sizing Info: Other

Additional Sizing Notes: This is my first leather glove. If I compare the glove to my alpinestars smx-2 textile glove the S1 is a little tighter. The S1 is still new and will eventually stretch a little.

I think this is a great glove for people who are making the jump to a leather glove but don't want a full blown gauntlet glove. You get a bit more protection than a regular short glove.

 Premium, versatile hybrid gauntlet/short glove

By Jeremy from Lompoc, CA

Pros: This effort by Astars to blend a gauntlet and short style glove demonstrates their dedication as well as famous attention to detail. New in 2009, there is no disappointment here in terms of fit, finish, and protection. I ordered the black/white model. Style cues and overall conformity are simply outstanding. This glove uses leather, synthetic leather, polyurethane, rubber, and a polyester liner for protection and feel that surpasses my older GP Plus glove--save for debatable attributes (see Cons)...

Cons: The single velcro closure looks good and appears reasonably secure but on the street or track (and this glove is suited for the track with the exception of a finger roll bridge) I suspect there is a fair chance of coming undone. Part of this closure system is the lateral wrist protection 'wing' (the longest section) which extends much further than I expected it to. I have small wrists but am also 5'10" yet what happens is my side/protruding wrist bone is barely covered as the majority of wrist padding unnecessarily covers my lower arm. For small wrists, when secured the cuff moves loosely around since the rubber binders aren't curved and want to straighten. Side-by-side with my Alpinestars GP Plus gauntlet (of the same size), they are equal length at the longest point--not what I was hoping for when seeking an unobtrusive glove for use with a typical street jacket.

Sizing Info: Fits true to size

Comments: The pictures of these gloves may lead you to believe that the S1 (or S-1) 3/4 glove is more compact than it really is. It is actually a gauntlet that desperately wants to be a short glove. I love... (Read the rest of this review)
