The S-MX 5 Waterproof boot has been created as a performance road and track boot, with built-in weather protection. Incorporating the latest technical footwear design and material know-how, the S-MX 5 WP is notable for its comfort, hugging fit, safety performance and wet weather performance.

Features

Durable, high-tech micro-fiber upper construction offering a high level of flexibility.
Double injected PU shields the shin, ankle, calf, toe and heel from impact while minimizing abrasion.
Inner protection is given by a double injected panel connected to the heel counter, hidden beneath the outer shell and running up the outer ankle.
Quick drying polyamide lining is laminated with open cell foam and high density contoured padding to absorb shocks to the foot area.
The S-MX 5 boot is CE certified.
Alpinestars exclusive waterproof and breathable membrane liner ensures 100% weather protection, with an integrated gusset over entry aperture to prevent water penetration down the leg.
Innovative air vents at the ankle, heel and forefoot are covered with a specially designed mesh to provide unmatched levels of rider comfort.
Large �throat� profile instep and Achilles flex bellows for superior flex and comfort.
MTP mesh liner and anatomical, removable, PU Foam foot bed keeps the foot cool and comfortable.
A fully vented version is also available in Black.
Innovative inner (medial) side entry opening/closure system that features an elastic mounted zipper with an extra wide Velcro� flap, to give a precise, comfortable fit and wide opening aperture for ease of access.
Highly ergonomic, lasting for ultra precise fit.
Exclusive compound rubber sole features structured shank reinforcement for added support to the arch area.
Interchangeable bi-injected PU toe slider with snap-in assembly.

Pros: The boots are very well made and give an appearance of quality. I got the waterproof ones and have yet to test whether they are truly waterproof. These are much nicer than the other brand boots I have had.

Cons: Nothing so far.

Sizing Info: Fits true to size

Additional Sizing Notes: The fit is snug but should be for a riding boot.

I like the zipper enclosure in addition to velcro. I have more confidence they are going to stay on in a crash.

Sizing Info: Fits true to size

Additional Sizing Notes: my shoe size 9.5 - 10, ordered the 9.5. Fits perfect

Comments: At first your heel will lift up. This does go away when the boot breaks in just like a ski boot does. fits snug without crushing your foot. can't wait too test them out on a cross country road trip

Nice commuting boot

Pros: When I get off my bike I can fit these boots under my snug jeans and just walk around casually even with the shin armor, so it's a nice boot to go to the mall or something with. When I hop back on my bike I tuck my pants into the boots and they tighten just enough to where I feel secure. Sole seems durable and extends over heel cup so the boot was intended for walking instead of just riding. They look pretty cool too. When the weather is bad I wear these over my jeans but under my Aerostich suit and i feel pretty well protected from weather/injury.

Cons: I am 130 lbs and 5'8" so I have really skinny legs and these don't tighten enough to where I would feel comfortable wearing them under jeans while riding. I would like to see a boot with the whole inside velcroed for a much wider range of adjustability. These aren't boots intended for people with super athletic calves like Sidi's race boots so I don't think that request is too far out there even with my smaller frame.

Additional Sizing Notes: I wear a 42 in S-MX Plus racing boots and these new S-MX 5's. I would say the S-MX 5 has the same amount of room from heel to toe but is much more snug in terms of width and has just a little less room in the toe box. However my S-MX Plus' were bought off the shelf so they could have been stretched out by people trying them on.

Comments: I have not tested the waterproofing of these boots. Also I have not tried on a normal pair of S-MX 5's so I could not tell you how differently they fit. I would not consider these a racing boot.
