Carbon fiber is extremely strong and light, Kev is fabric-like and has tremendous resistance to puncture and tearing, which is why it's used for ballistic vests, etc. Carbon & Kev together produce an awesome combination of strength and flexibility providing an anti-penetration barrier in a very thin cross-section. An extra layer of Kevlar is placed underneath the composite, which is then mounted over the absorbent rubber based foam carrier. This provides unbeatable protection in a section just over 1/2" thick!
