Great compromise between performance and mileage

By Jono from Fairfield

Pros: Excellent all around tire. I commute anywhere between 14-50 miles one way, 5 days a week, rain or shine. Even in the rain these tires have excellent grip at highway speeds when riding responsibly and are very confidence inspiring in the dry. Thanks to the softer shoulder compunds, I am also comfortable riding these tires to the edge of the tread on the twisty mountain roads I frequent on weekends.

Cons: It's not so much a con as it is a characteristic of the type of tire but, you do need to keep your cornering speeds at sane levels on more technical roads. These are Sport Touring tires, not Superbike tires. You can feel the tires start to slip once you push them too hard but it is gradual and controllable, not a sudden, huge loss of grip.

This is great all around tire for those looking to gain improved mileage without giving up all hopes of performance. I am now on my second set on my 2003 R1 and will most likely continue buying these tires for my bike until it is replaced as my daily commuter and moved to toy status. However, if I ever do get a Sport Touring bike, it will always wear a pair of these shoes.

 Dangerous tires

By Jason from Virginia

Pros: The main advantage of these tires are longer life - that is if you do NOT ride hard. My first set I got about 6500 miles, and was impressed with the handling.

Cons: My second set had a harder compound in the middle than the first - under hard rear braking in any weather you can expect the tire to slide. It DEFEATS THE PURPOSE of this tire being harder in the middle when you constantly slide it. I only got 4000 miles on this rear. My chicken strips stayed around much longer than on my Pirellis I had previously - the Roadsmarts don't feel near as stable.

Comments: Definately NOT worth $200 for a rear unless you ride with cruisers or on straight roads ALL THE TIME.
