A great product at a great price. |
By Bill H. from Pittsburgh
Pros: Installed easily in five minutes, without tools. Loading a freebie map from the Power Commander website was quick and easy, too. Made a difference that could easily be felt from in the saddle. More power is available througout the rev range, but the greatest benefit is how it cleans up the annoying popping and burping when cruising along at light and steady throttle. Of all the mods one might consider for a '99 900ss, this should be done first.
Cons: Not really a viable complaint, but there was an instructional CD included with the Power Commander that Windows Vista couldn't read properly. That makes sense though, because this product for a 1999 bike was manufactured before Vista came along. No big deal though. I tossed the CD aside and was still able to hook up and go in five minutes using the basic instructions sheet.
This product is the single best mod I've done for the bike.
The original factory fuel maps were woefully lean, especially at partial throttle openings like you would use when caught behind traffic. Puttering along with the throttle barely open, it would bang and sputter and pop back into the airbox.
With the PC III and the appropriate free map from the Power Commander website, the bike is transformed in a big way. Gone is the occasional bang or air box popping. In it's place are power and torque gains that put a grin on my face.
Installation couldn't have been easier. No wires were cut, nor was any other surgery required.
