About Evans NPG and NPG+ Coolants
Evans NPG+ (Non-aqueous Propylene Glycol) contains no water. The properties of water dictate the limits of engine tuning by causing the cooling system to fail in two important components. These failures happen before the system visibly overheats. The coolant pump will cavitate due to the lowered pressure on the intake side. This inhibits coolant flow. Detonation will occur in the head because hot spots form when the coolant turns to vapor and insulates the metal from its liquid form. These two problems stem directly from water's low boiling point and the large space that it takes up in the form of vapor. The only solution is to remove the water from the system.
There are other valuable properties as well. Evans NPG and NPG+ are not corrosive, even to magnesium. It never degrades with use and so never needs exchanging. It can be run at low or no pressure, and has a low toxicity. It does not freeze. With proper tuning, it allows an engine to get better fuel economy and have lower emissions. Its boiling point is 370 F.
