OEM/Replacement Pad
Black 1052: GG-rated compound
The 1052 is a semi-metallic compound that works in any terrain condition. It is composed of carbon and basalt fibers. This makes the 1052 a fade-free material. It is a long-lasting brake pad. The 1052 does not damage rotors, as opposed to some of the OEM full metallic pads. This is an organic based compound.
Applications: Touring, Off-road & Sport.
Composition: Semi-metallic compound with carbon and basalt fibers.
Feel: This compound feels as good as a stock pad but it outperforms the feel of a stock pad when they are hot.
HH Performance Race Pad
Sintered 1396/HH-rated compound
The 1396 compound is a new sintered bronzed-based material that includes graphite and other advanced ceramics. It will provide instant powerful controlled braking force at any speed or temperature, rainy or dry weather. Great lasting power. These compound can be used on Sport Bikes as well as MX Off Road use.
VERY IMPORTANT:
All Galfer compounds are to be "broken-in" lightly for the first 2 or 3 laps, or 40 miles of street riding. All rotors must be cleaned before new pads are to be install, especially those rotors that were using HH metallic pads prior to installing new Galfer organic pads.
Pros: Galfer's are a great buy. Low cost compared to other aftermarket, and especially factory pads. Now I did alot of prep work to the rotors, i.e. fine grit sanding over and over and over, then washed with soap and water, and final rinse in hot water. So I started with a perfect rotor surface when I put on the Galfer pads. As far as the pads themselves... awesome!!! One finger stops now possible. Good feel, you know exactly how hard the pads are biting. Easy to modulate, rolling a stoppie is much easier. Factory pads felt very "wooden", lots of pressure with little results. Galfers bite instantly, and require very little lever pull to stop quick.
Cons: None so far.
Hope this helps out anyone considering these pads. I highly recommended them.
