Graves Motorsports Smog Block Off Plates are designed to seal off the ports on the valve cover used by the air injection system (a.k.a smog pumps or AIS).
The air induction system (AIS) burns unburned exhaust gases by injecting fresh air (secondary air) into the exhaust port, reducing the emission of hydrocarbons.
Once these are capped off the air injection system can be safely removed. These Smog Block Off Plates are made from CNC'ed billet aluminum and feature the Graves Motorsports "G" logo. There are two reasons why you want to remove the air injection system from your bike;
1. If you are using your motorcycle on a closed course (racing, track days, etc.) you will want to remove all unnecessary equipment from your bike for reduced weight and ease of maintenance.
2. To get an accurate Air:Fuel (A/F) ratio when dynoing the bike. The air injection system pumps fresh air directly into the exhaust stream in order to burn off any unused fuel. Unfortunately by doing this the A/F ratio is thrown off by the extra "fresh air" in the exhaust stream. By removing the air injection system you can achieve an accurate A/F ratio.
Pros: great product stops the fireball back fires ya get when revd up high
Cons: everyone on here and in the instructions say to move the radiator out of the way and reach up with a stubby 5mm allen wrench that takes forever i like to find easier ways of doing things so if you take your gas tank off then the air box top and bottom and look where the air inlet is there is a black plastic piece take that out and use a ratchet and long extension with a swivel and 5mm allen socket and then you dont have to disassemble all the plastics off your bike also something the instructions dont tell you is that when looking at the back foff the plates there is a area that is about an 1/8" sallower that goes towards your seat
good product just not very good on instructions

Pros: Great product. good instructions. No power gain but shaves a couple pounds and reads a true o2 on the dyno.
Cons: Could be a little lighter plates.
Comments: It also makes plug changes easyer and cleans up between the frame a little.

Pros: One thing important I don,t see mentioned alot is the fact that if you have an aftermarket exhaust. The block off plates will do away with the annoying backfires and popping from the exhaust when decelerating. You will notice a big difference in the overall smoothness of the bike at cruising speeds.
Cons: No cons. Great kit.
Comments: Easy installation if your at all mechanically inclined

Great

Pros: Well manufactured product, clean, no burrs. Looks nice too for the very short amount of time I'll ever see them.
Cons: None
Comments: For the love of god, following the recommendations in the directions. I installed them using only an allen wrench and it took about 2 hours+. Not really a con, I just haven't bought a socket set... (Read the rest of this review)
