Pros: Superb venting, nice fit, good price
Cons: Poor stitching and zippers, doesn't protect from the cold AT ALL.
Sizing Info: Fits true to size
Additional Sizing Notes: Sleeves come to somewhat of a drastic taper at the ends--the jacket was clearly made with a gauntlet style glove in mind and doesn't leave much room for a shorty.
I bought this jacket in July of 2008 when I bought my first bike because I felt that I NEEDED a safety jacket and didn't care what it was as long as I walked out of that showroom with a jacket to tide me over until I was in a position to be more picky.
I love the way it fits and feels, and it's the only one of 3 jackets I own that can be worn comfortably when temperatures exceed 85 degrees. The venting on it is just that good.
The stitching, however, leaves a lot to be desired and looks like it's coming undone all by its self. The zippers are of extremely low quality and are slowly chewing themselves up over time of zipping it up and down. I anticipate that in a couple more seasons this jacket will completely fall apart by itself. I'm okay with that, though, because it's already paid for itself protecting me from numerous drops and falls while I was learning.
This isn't a jacket you buy as your only jacket, and it isn't a jacket you buy if you're planning on riding in low temperatures or in the rain. It's a jacket you buy if you don't have a lot of money to spend and you absolutely NEED something to keep you safe during those summer months when the temperatures get too hot for your other jackets.
If you can afford to spend more, then you'll be doing yourself a disservice by buying this jacket. If you can't, however, then by all means, buy it. It's better than nothing because it has adequate armor in all the right places and it'll do you just fine for a season or two in warm/hot weather. But buy it with the intention of upgrading to something nicer within two years.
This jacket does one thing well and one thing only; keeping you safe and protected when it's hot outside. And it's only got a 2-3 year lifespan. Bear that in mind when buying this jacket and you won't go wrong.
