Michelin Power RACE - High Performance/DOT Road Racing - Front Tire

Average Customer Rating:   4.5 out of 5 (based on 3 ratings)

The Power Race relies heavily on technology developed for MotoGP racing, where Michelin dominates the world championship. The new Power Race series includes the first ever commercially available dual-compound DOT racing tires.

A new semi-slick tread pattern gives the Power Race exceptional grip, particularly at full lean, while the tread grooves are oriented to evacuate water from the contact patch in damp track conditions. New front and rear profiles actually help shift the bikes weight bias toward the front, for better feedback under braking.

Unlike some ultra high-performance tires, which are down-rated to V or W speed indices, all Power Race tires carry the (W) index for speeds in excess of 168mph. This not only simplifies tire selection, but also confirms that the Power Race meets the highest certification standards.

Features:

  • Power Race Medium: intermediate compound in the center, soft compound on the shoulders.
  • Power Race Medium Soft: intermediate compound in the center, extra-soft compound on the shoulders.
  • Power Race Soft: soft compound overall; no dual-compound.

Pros: Fantastic for track use, warmers recommended but not required. I mostly use the Medium Soft Front / Medium Soft Rear combo for midwest track riding. Grip is excellent, wear is adequate, with warmers, warm up not an issue.

Cons: Very cool or damp track conditions make these tire treacherous without warmers. I recommend NOT using these for street tires ( as I believe does Michelin ) they need to bee ridden hard at kneedraggin pace to come to temperature and are slippery when cold.

Pilot Power 2CT or Pilot Power is an EXCELLENT choice for your street-bike. I use 2CT's for my wet-day track tires. Ride safe !

Pros: These tire are indeed amazing performers (on the track).

Cons: It is idiots like the above that put race tires on a street bike and then claim, "they get up to tempurature after a few miles. Bull#$&%

Pros: I purchased both the front and rear in the medium compound to use on the street. I must say they heat up after only a few minutes of riding and start to stick. thay even have decent wet weather traction. The grip seems to be excellent, They have never felt like they were letting go ( albeit im not riding as hard as if i were on a track ). I put about 1000 miles on them and theyre not wearing as fast as i thought.

Cons: A little expensive to use on the street for the amount of life your going to get out of them.
