Not as good as other reviews of this tool have indicated |
By D. Marley from NC OBX on 11/02/2007
Pros: Indicates rotation of handle and bit by 1/16 turns, however, there is nearly 1/16 turn backlash in the straight-cut bevelled gear system.
Cons: No bearings are present in the drive system, thus alot of drag iis experienced when turning pilot screws, etc., and inaccuracy results in not knowing exactly the turns of the screws , and slippage on screw head feels just like the mechanical indexing of the tool. Out-Drive bevel gear is retained by propellor gear, creates much friction and gear tooth indexing. Tried to lubricate with a number of different lubricants, but still does not work to expectations. A rough opperating tool at best. Not worth half it's price. Indexing system (spring-loaded ball) is removable, but with turning load, rotational drag and indexing of gear teeth still make the tool feel cheap and rough.
There must be a better tool for it's designed purpose out there somewhere. Don't experiment with this tool unless you have too much money and every other tool you require for your bike. Every other tool or item that I have received from Motion Pro is of good or excellent quality, but this driver is not one of those items.
