    Nicely made, strong magnets |
By Craig L from San Marcos, CA
Pros: Like other Nelson-Rigg products I have purchased, well made. Magnets are very strong, no worries about this blowing off. Padding looks like it will be easy on the clearcoat on my tank. Price was very reasonable. Rain cover and carry strap are included--hope I don't need them.
Cons: Map pocket on top is hard to load maps in without bending the heck out of them. Slit on back side doesn't open very far, meaning you have to stuff the map or directions sheet in. Very narrow at bottom end too, not as wide as a standard roadmap. Next size up would probably be a better choice if map reading is important.
I have plenty of storage space on a Electra Glide classic, but what I needed was a way to both put a map where I could see it and have some ready access to food and water while riding. I am preparing for a "Saddlesore 1000" ride and being able to snack and hydrate while riding means more efficient time in the saddle. This should do the trick just fine for a bottle of water or two and a few energy bars and some fruit while also holding the current 100 miles of strip map from Microsoft Streets and Trips. The large magnets are very strong and seem well padded. I would have liked a slightly larger bag, but the space on my tank between the gas cap and the seat is fairly short, so I went for one of the smaller bags. If you have a longer tank, I'd go for a slightly bigger bag. After a few trips I'll see if it holds all I need or if I need to go bigger. On the down side, maps are inserted under the clear top by sticking them through a velcro-closed slit on the back side. It is hard to open the slit wide enought to insert a piece of paper, although a Triple-A TripTik or stiffer folded roadmap would probably be easier. Inserting a single sheet of route instructions or a strip map is hard to do without mashing it up pretty good. The bottom end of the map will have to be folded to almost a point as well, as it gets pretty narrow.
