Puig Touring Screen for FZ1 |
By Silas from Springfield, La on 01/29/2008
Pros: Well made, fits well, looks good on bike. Smoke model looks particularly good on black FZ1. However only the bottom of the screen is dark smoke...the top is lighter smoke. My Racing Screen is dark smoke all the way up and down, which I think looks better on a black bike, but it is a matter of preference.
Extra width spreads windblast to just outside my shoulders. This should be helpful in the cooler weather, which is why I purchased it in the first place. Extra height, about 2 inches taller than the Puig Racing Screen, brings the airstream to the face window of my full face Arai. The Racing Screen directed a bit lower, about at chin level. There is no buffeting of the helmet with either screen.
This will be my winter screen and the Puig Racing will be my summer. I don't plan to give up either one.
The price was a plus and the shipping was quick.
This will definitly be my "go to" screen whenever I take trips of several days over hundreds of miles.
Cons: Not really a con, but I expected more protection from the wind blast. I thought the blast would rise just above the top of my helmet but this is not the case. However, I feel the extra 2 inches will come in handy in a rainstorm. I can crouch behind this screen a bit better than the Racing screen. And, there is an added issue...there is now a turbulence area at my neck area that was not there with the Puig Racing screen. To combat this turbulence (which isn't bad) I will have to buy a chin and neck windstopper because I can feel the draft of air on my neck. In the summer this would not be a problem but in the winter, would be a tremendous issue.
