Fine tune your STM clutch with this selection of primary and secondary springs. like the clutch’s other components, these springs are manufactured by STM and supplied with an operation graph and a serial number. Choose from a selection of eleven primary springs and six secondary springs.
The primary (or diaphragm) spring replaces the helicoidal springs of the production clutch assuring a more uniform pressure on the disc pack. This spring controls engagement and lockup of the clutch. As more horsepower is added to a motor, the clutch plates will require more pressure, so a heavier spring must be installed.
The secondary spring controls the slipper function by changing the force of the spring, it is possible to adjust the slipper function, amplifying or reducing the effect of engine braking. Moving to a lighter secondary spring lessens the engine braking effect and vice-versa.
