One of the most technologically advanced helmets for street riders and clearly one of the best-looking helmets on the market.

Shoei's innovation and cutting-edge design makes the RF-1000 a premium sports helmet.

Aerodynamically superior, the RF-1000 full-face sport helmet delivers wind tunnel proven high speed performance and ventilation. A perfect fit is achieved through removable and adjustable cheek pads and 3D comfort liner system which doesn't shift during high speed riding.

Another facet of the legendary Shoei fit is the use of 3 shell sizes, and 4 sizes of EPS liners. The RF-1000 shell is of Shoei's proprietary AIM + (Advanced Integrated Matrix Plus Multi-fiber Technology), which embeds ultra strong organic fibers into fiberglass. The result is a lightweight, yet strong, outer shell that is better able to absorb and disperse the force of an impact.

 Very Quiet Helmet

By Hanadarko from Milwaukee, WI on 04/24/2008

Pros: Quietest helmet I have every worn. Excellent venting. Breath guard ok - less restrictive than the breath box that the HJC comes with.

Cons: Cheek pads (35mm) are rather snug for me. More so than the default pads the HJC comes with. However, I ordered 33mm cheek pads and swapped them out. You can order several different sizes.

Without a Pinlock shield, this shield will fog instantly. However if you opt for the shield with the pinlocks pin and then buy a pinlock, it will NOT fog at all. Some moisture is present along the bottom edge of the shield if the temp is cold and you do not use the breath guard. A really nice feature is that this shield ratchets up/down in several detents including a very small initial dentent to help assist any fogging when you stop. It is activated with the left side lever on the helmet. Outstanding warranty as well.

Pros: 1. Definately a top end helmet. 2. Great ventilation: Have been riding the last week in 40 deg. Wisconsin weather, the shield fogs a little at a stoplight but immediately unfogs once you start going. Better than the HJC or Scorpion. 3. Shoei's R&D department 4. Couldn't afford a fancy painted one, but the gloss black is pretty sharp

Cons: Breath deflector hits my nose sometimes. Not enough of a con to rate it less than 5. Couldn't afford a fancy painted one.

Sizing Info: Fits true to size

Additional Sizing Notes: XL is a bit tighter (especially in the cheeks) than by XLarge HJC CL-SP, looser that my Large Scorpion EXO-700. The Scorpion is the most oval out of the three and the HJC is the most round: Shoei is in between.

Comments: The Scorpion offers much of the features of the Shoei, at almost half the cost. Everyone I have talked to said the Shoei is the better helmet in terms of protection. Is $150 extra worth it for an... (Read the rest of this review)

Pros: Light weight, good ventilation, sleek look

Cons: None yet

Sizing Info: Fits true to size

Additional Sizing Notes: I did notice the cheek pads make it a little more snug than other helmets I have tried on, but in a good way.

 RF-1000 (Black)

By Anonymous from Anytown, USA on 07/27/2007

Pros: Great helmet, awesome paint job (gloss black), very high quality, the easy face shield detachment is a great feature, the helmet is not too loud at highway speeds, vents also work really well once a good cruising speed has been reached, and even the rear spoiler works well, providing you with downforce to keep your head steady at high speeds.......great helmet ! ! !

Cons: Nada

Sizing Info: Fits true to size

Additional Sizing Notes: Just make sure it fits snug, go to a store and try on a Shoei RF-1000 to make sure you get the proper size

Comments: Kneedraggers.com got me my helmet from CA in less than 6 days, great job ! !

 Nice additional features

By Khiem from Hermosa Beach, CA on 01/30/2007

Pros: I use to have a RF-900 so I expected the RF-1000 to be pretty much the same. I was pleasantly surprised at a couple little things though! It comes with a little breath mask thing to help keep the visor from fogging up on those cold mornings. It also comes with a chin curtain to keep the cold air out. The other cool thing is the visor positioning/locking mechanism. The old RF-900 had the standard closed position and the slightly open position. The RF-1000 also adds a position that locks the visor down closed. It's a nice little safety feature to make sure your visor doesn't blow open doing 130+ at the track.

Cons: Nothing really.
