 Good jacket for the Price

By Dustin on 06/07/2008

Pros: I have the blue, white and black one. It looks nice. Not too flashy but still a bit sporty to match my bike, No gaudy logos plastered all over the place. Great if you want a simple jacket. Plenty of pockets in this thing. Map pocket, 2 Inside pockets, 1 on the liner, and 1 in the actual jacket. 2 pockets on the outside. Its water proof so no need for a rain jacket. Wrist closure straps work well. Forearm adjustments work as advertised. There are little buttons that hold the forearm vents to 3 open positions to allow for max venting. Elbow armor is in the right place. Shoulder armor as well. Has longer back with tail bone pad. Includes pants attachment that you can actually sew into any pair of pants which is kind of cool. There is a waist adjustment strap on both sides which works fairly well. The collar is soft and actually comfortable closed. Wrists are soft and comfy too. Cant say that about most jackets.

Cons: The venting could work a bit better. I think maybe the waterproof-ness of the jacket prevents some air flow that would naturally come through the fabric. It tends to ride up when you sit upright on your bike due to the tailbone pad. ( I did not have the waist adjusted properly. after I adjusted it, the jacket did not ride up anymore) The back pad could be thicker. Its "triple density" but not very thick. Its a pretty big pocket so most aftermarket back protectors should fit fine. I found a few shedding threads but not alot.

Sizing Info: Fits true to size

Additional Sizing Notes: Im a bigger boy. 6' 2". approx 240lbs, 40" waist. I needed a 2x jacket. The arms could be about 1 inch longer and it would be perfect. I tried on several other brands of jackets, Joe Rocket, a different model Tour Master, an Icon jacket, Of each of these brands I needed a 2x jacket, so sizing is true..

In 95 degree heat I was warm but had a feeling of protection. I didnt know it had shoulder vents on my first ride, but found them after. My second ride of the day was much cooler thanks to these vents. With all the vents open it was actually pretty tolerable to have this jacket on in full sun in 95 degree heat. Stop and go traffic obviously was pretty warm and borderline sweat factory but once you start moving you can really feel those vents working. I found myself a few times unzipping it a little around the neck to get alot more venting. Dont let the brand "Tour Master" keep you from getting this jacket. Its great for a first, inexpensive jacket that you dont really mind tossing around or getting dirty. Great as a loner jacket if you do that sort of thing. Great as a backup jacket. Great as a main jacket for that matter. You cant beat the price either.
