Pros: smooths out power delivery,
drops the revs on the highway
I don't know why installing a smaller front and larger rear sprocket is the "cool" thing to do on these bikes, but I chose to go the other way. The bike ran around 8000 rpm at 75mph stock, and this dropped it down to around 7000. My speedometer was also reading high, so this fixed the problem. Lowering the gear ratio on these bikes in my opinion makes them unpleasent to ride for any sustained amount of time over 70mph with the engine screaming at 9000 rpm. The 636 (or any 600 superbike for that matter) has more than enough power to compensate for taller gearing, and it makes it a nicer ride. Besides, you've got 6 gears, just downshift.
