Pros: Heavy duty 14mm double-locking pin, anti-freeze spray construction, piercing alarm, fits my 2008 FZ6 front disc, stores in provided zipper case attached to frame under seat. Extra keys, storage case and extra batteries included.
Cons: After the "locked on the disc" chirp, it sometimes self-triggers the alarm. Alarm siren location is visible and accessible, as in easily muffled with a thumb or wad of bubble gum. Does not fit on FZ6 rear disc.
Before anyone could break this lock off the disc they would go elsewhere. I think the only way it's coming off without the key is to disassemble the front wheel. That's probably why they include three keys!
If it did fit the rear disc, it would be a lot more work for thieves to remove the rear wheel, as opposed to removing the front wheel. Of course, a few determined burly dudes could still just carry the bike away while it screamed - but I think the Xena lock would discourage any casual thieves.
If the bright yellow color doesn't remind you it's on the bike, for sure the alarm will...
I wrote and asked Zena if they were considering including a pager and proximity sensor. In their reply, they said they were actually working on those concepts, but they haven't worked out the bugs as of yet.
A proximity sensor would give a warning when anyone got too close to the bike, and with a pager, it wouldn't matter if the would-be thief covered the siren - because he would have me to deal with shortly...
